Nearly 150 guests enjoyed the 20th anniversary event at Celebrations by Turnip Rose in Costa Mesa. Congratulations to the 2014 SAGE Awards honorees! -

September 2013 Breakfast
The September Breakfast was a joint program with BIA/OC and featured a panel presentation on Playa Vista, a thriving urban community of more than 6,500 residents. Guest speakers included Alison Banks, director of marketing for Brookfield Residential ; Tom DiPrima, executive vice president of KB Homes ' Southern California Division; and Manny Gonzalez, principal of KTGY Group. -
August 2013 Breakfast: Smart Choice Awards
The Smart Choice Awards 2013 honorees were recognized August 15, 2013 at a joint Breakfast Program of the 55+ Housing Council and the Remodelers Council at Lutron Showroom in Irvine. -

The 2011 SAGE "Project of the Year," SEASONS at Compton hosted an insightful program and property tour for a sold-out crowd on May 17, 2012. President and CEO of LINC Housing, Hunter Johnson, and Principal Partner of Nardi Associates LLP, Norberto Nardi, shared the challenges and priorities that went into creating this multiple award-winning community. -

Vicki Clark, Dr. Marilyn Ditty and John Huskey - all past SAGE "Person of the Year" honorees and nationally regarded experts in their field - were enlightening and informative as they addressed an audience of nearly 100 attendees at the April 19th 55+ Housing Council breakfast meeting. This much anticipated "Conversation with Industry Icons" covered topics such as how senior housing options are changing the mindset of older consumers, breakthroughs in technology, aging in place and much more. -

With millions of Boomers transitioning into a new stage of life over the next few years, the 55+ Housing Council's 2012 Expert Series continued in March with a program entitled What is the Future of Active Aging. Featured speaker Colin Milner, CEO of the International Council on Active Aging, addressed attendees with thought-provoking ideas and insights into active aging and our industry in general. -

The February Breakfast program - The Art of Active Aging - continued 55+ Housing Council's 2012 Expert Series with an educational presentation by Tim Carpenter, founder of the nonprofit organization EngAGE and host/producer of the radio program Experience Talks. -

Our January breakfast marked the inaugural program of The Expert Series and featured Teri Slavik-Tsuyuki, the dynamic Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of Newland Real Estate Group. Teri shared valuable insight into how today's buyer has changed and what Newland is doing to address this new "recovery consumer." -

More than 200 guests attended the 17th Annual SAGE Awards on Thursday, November 3, 2011, to celebrate the 2011 honorees. A culinary event celebrating this year's SAGE honorees, guests enjoyed a five-course banquet at the acclaimed Turnip Rose in Costa Mesa, wonderful company, and shared stories of success in providing housing for Southern California’s 55+ residents. -

More than 100 attendees heard a dynamic panel of experts discuss who the customers are for age exclusive for-sale and continuing care retirement communities (CCRC) at 55+ Housing Council’s September Breakfast meeting. Nancy Hall, Vice President of Marketing at Pacific Dimensions, moderated the panel, which included Robin Craig, marketing services leader for Kisco Senior Living, Sandy Scheppman, Senior Director of Marketing for Capriana, and Kari Roland, Director of Marketing for the Southern California Division of K. Hovnanian Homes. -

Metlife’s Gary Packman presented findings from a 55+ household report at the August 55+ Housing Council breakfast. The study analyzes where 55+ household owners live, the characteristics of their homes and communities and their level of satisfaction. -

Brian Dawson, partner at Irwin Partner Architects, led an exciting discussion on how 55+ professionals can stay relevant in today's market. Pam Kerr, regional operations director for Integral Senior Living; Ralph Spargo, a licensed California architect and principal of the 50+5 Development Group; and Jerry Storage, general manager and executive officer for Professional Community Management of CA, participated in the panel discussion. -

The Southern California Edison "ABC Green Home" team, joined by many of their manufacturing partners, previewed a demonstration home that has been expressly designed to provide environmentally friendly, "net zero" function and universal design elements at an affordable price. Nick Slevin with 50+ Builder magazine moderated a panel discussion with John Morton (Edison), Manny Gonzalez (KTGY Group), and Chuck Goodman (iPad). -

During our program at the Newport Radisson Hotel, the 55+ Housing Council announced the winners of the 2011 Smart Choice Awards. Each of the Smart Choice Award winners demonstrated how they make a difference in the long-term health and well-being of our aging population and/or the 55+ housing industry at large. -
